Well, I really like the way the colorings of my most recent icon batch came out, so I'm gonna make tutorials for 2 or 3 of the colorings. This is my favorite of them all.

to

Uses Selective Coloring (sorry)

1.) Crop your image.



2.) Selective Coloring

REDS: -100 // +100 // +100 // 0
YELLOWS: -100 // -100 // -100 // 0
NEUTRALS: +19 // -16 // -16 // 0



3.) Channel Mixer

RED:
R: 162
G: -30
B: -26



4.) Hue/Saturation
MASTER: 0 // +21 // 0



5.) Curves
RED:
I: 101
O: 125

GREEN:
I: 137
O: 152

BLUE:
I: 113
O: 129



6.) New Fill Layer
Exclusion, 100%
#090924



And that's all!

thank youuuu :) this is just wonderful! i adjusted the colours a bit when doing the s.c because it looked funny on my picture. thats just because my base colour is different than your'se.

so yes, i shall be useing this tutorial again! mwahhhh!

Can you do me a favor Jiffy and post a pic of what the curves layer should look like? My curves isn't working right, and it's making the icon look wrong!

OK, you CANNOT type it in. It makes it look all weird and stuff when you type it in, so try just moving it to the right spots.. That should work.. If not, let me know, and I'll show ya

HELP!
HELP! I tried the curves like you said but it gave my icon a weird coloring! When I move my curves points, this is what the curves looks like:

Wow, this tute was really helpful! :D I have flirted with selective colour but this tute taught me how to make the skin tone in a greyish, dull image really pop and look gorgeous.
I'll finish fiddling with the icon and post it for you to see. I'm thrilled coz I've been going in circles trying to figure it out. Now some stuff make sense! :D

Lovely. :D I'm adding it now...I can't wait to try out your other colouring tutes. :D

This last one really upped my confidence I was able to figure out how to work the selective colour layer. :D
